Equine Bodywork

Supporting every horse to feel and perform their best.

The Practice

What Is Equine Bodywork?

Equine massage therapy is beneficial for all horses — whether they are high-performance athletes or pasture companions — because it supports the body in maintaining comfort, mobility, and overall health.

For performance and working horses, massage helps improve flexibility, enhance range of motion, increase circulation, and reduce muscle tension, allowing them to perform at their best while decreasing the risk of injury. It also aids in faster recovery after training or competition by promoting blood flow and reducing soreness.

For pasture horses, massage therapy plays an equally important role by relieving stiffness, supporting aging joints, improving circulation, and enhancing overall comfort and quality of life. Across all types of horses, regular bodywork can help identify problem areas early, reduce stress, encourage relaxation, improve posture and balance, support the lymphatic system, and contribute to better movement and long-term soundness.

What I Offer

Services

Each session is tailored to your horse's individual needs — whether that's maintenance, performance support, or helping them bounce back from something going on.

Equine Sports Massage

A therapeutic, hands-on approach using varied massage techniques to address muscle tension, soreness, and stiffness. Each session is individualized — promoting relaxation, improved range of motion, and lasting comfort.

Advanced Myofascial Release

Targeted techniques that release restrictions in the connective tissue surrounding muscles and joints. Restores mobility, relieves chronic tension, and supports healthy posture and movement patterns.

Red Light & Cold Laser Therapy

Low-level light therapy that penetrates deep into tissue to reduce inflammation, accelerate healing, and support cellular regeneration. A powerful complement to hands-on bodywork for recovery and soreness.

KT Taping

Kinesiology taping applied to support muscles and soft tissue, improve proprioception, and encourage healthy movement patterns. Helps reduce swelling and provides continued support between sessions.

Acupressure

Targeted pressure applied to specific points along the body's meridians to release blockages, reduce tension, and support the body's natural healing response. Promotes relaxation and energetic balance.

Raindrop Therapy

A gentle technique using a sequence of essential oils applied along the spine and back muscles. Supports spinal health, reduces inflammation, and promotes deep relaxation in the nervous system.

Release & Regulation of the Equine Nervous System

Specialized work focused on calming the nervous system, releasing stored tension and stress responses in the body. Helps horses that are reactive, anxious, or locked in a sympathetic state reconnect and settle.

Groundwork Sessions

Ground-based work focused on body awareness, softness, and connection. Addresses behavioral patterns rooted in physical tension and helps horses move more freely and confidently from the ground up.

Personalized Exercise & Conditioning Plan

A customized plan built around your horse's specific needs, goals, and current condition. Supports long-term strength, flexibility, and soundness — and gives you clear guidance to continue their progress between visits.

The Person Behind the Work

Meet Tabitha

CESMT  ·  Veterinary Technician

Hi, I'm Tabitha — a Certified Equine Sports Massage Therapist, Veterinary Technician, and owner of Lone Willow Equine Bodywork. Born and raised in Texas, horses have been a part of my heart and my life for as long as I can remember.

That lifelong passion followed me to Montana State University, where I was a member of their Western Pleasure team. Competing gave me firsthand insight into how performance horses move, work, and use their bodies — insight that shapes every session I do today.

My background in veterinary medicine has further strengthened my understanding of equine anatomy, movement, and recovery. I later made the move to Utah to grow Lone Willow and continue building a career centered around the horses I've loved since I was a little girl.

I'm currently continuing my education in equine & canine osteopathy and rehabilitation, with the possibility of pursuing veterinary school with a focus in equine sports medicine. Continuing to learn allows me to provide more informed, well-rounded care to every horse I work with.
